Philippa Kaye
grew up dancing in New York City; training in classical, modern, and popular forms at School of American Ballet, Lee Theodore’s American Dance Machine, with many modern masters, and on the nightclub floor. After receiving a BA in Studio Art with an emphasis in printmaking from University of California at Santa Cruz, she danced in San Francisco with Meaghan Gannett Performance Projects, Scott Wells, and Cid Pearlman’s Nesting Dolls. Philippa began making dances with electronic media while at Sarah Lawrence College, from where she was graduated with an MFA in Choreography in 2002. Previous to directing PKC, she was commissioned by Dancing in the Streets for Wave Hill and The Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum Smithsonian Institution to create site-specific outdoor dances. Her work has also been presented by Dixon Place, Dancenow/NYC, Performance Mix, Chashama, The 92nd St. Y, Location One, the D.C. International Improvisation Festival, The Painted Bride, Philadelphia, and Concord Academy, Concord, MA. She has choreographed for NYC theater productions; including Annie Dorsen’s “Democracy In America,” in which she also performed. She has danced with The New York City Opera, Sara Rudner and Friends, Joanna Mendl Shaw, Missy Phfol Smith, Laura Staton, among others who she is grateful to. Philippa has taught improvisation, composition, and dance technique in China, Italy, Mexico, and US schools and colleges.

Arletta Anderson
Hailing from the fresh air of northern California, Arletta moved south where she received her degree in dance from Loyola Marymount University and established her professional career. While in southern California she performed with various choreographers including Holly Johnston, Regina Klenjoski, Kindra Windish and Kate Hutter. Since her recent move east she has had the opportunity to with Laura Peterson, Willi Dorner, Benn Rasmussen, as well as continuing her work with Kevin Williamson/Kdub Dance and Pappas and Dancers.
Lia Bonfilio
is from Minnesota. She Received a BA in dance from Columbia College Chicago and went on to join Mordine and Company Dance Theater and Lucky Plush Productions — with whom she danced for three years, and has also performed with Joe Goode Performance Group in San Francisco. She is pleased to be working with Philippa Kaye Company.
Briana Brown
received her dance training in her native Canada, in Montreal, at Les Ateliers de Danse Moderne de Montreal Inc., where upon graduation she had the pleasure of working for Melanie Demers, O Vertigo, and David Hinton. Since her recent move to New York City, Briana has worked for Mike Kelley in his Extracurricular Activity Projective Reconstruction # 32, Plus and Candice Breitz in her work, New York, New York; both, Performa 09 comissions.
Cara Heerdt
Hailing from St. Louis MO., by way of Washington State, Cara is thrilled to be working with Philippa Kaye Company. Cara is a graduate of Idyllwild Arts Academy and earned her BFA in Dance from SUNY Purchase. Since moving to Brooklyn NY in 2008, Cara has performed with contemporary modern dance choreographers and companies such as Barbara Mahler, Wendy Osserman/WODance, Headless Horse Dance, Cori Kresge, Arts by the People and the RAD Improv Collective. Cara is an avid student of the Klein/Mahler technique, enjoys people watching, weird foods and very tall trees.
Cara Angela Liguori
a NYC native, is an original co-founding member of Propel-her Dance Collective. Cara has studied with the Paul Taylor Dance Company, Doug Varone & Dancers, Jeremy Nelson, Tere O’Connor (MELT 09) and with ROSAS and The Forsythe Company (Impulstanz Festival/Workshops 08), among others. She has had the pleasure of working with DendyDance Theater, Heidi Latsky Dance, Stefanie Nelson Dance Group, Natalie Desch, Kathy Wasik, Janessa Clark/Kilterbox, Ani Javian and Betsy Miller. Currently a member of Aviva Geismar/Drastic Action, Cara travels to Germany once a year with the group (and Battery Dance Company), to perform and work in German Public Schools (08, 09, & 10). Cara is happy to be working with Philippa Kaye Company.
Kensaku Shinohara
Born in Sapporo, Japan, Kensaku is a dance lover. He started dancing and making his pieces while studying Anthropology, and moved to NYC in 2009. Collaborating and studying with the energetic artists in NY, he keeps on making something exciting.

Rachel Lehrer
began her training at the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts, She continued on to a fruitful year at Sarah Lawrence College, where she met and later danced for Kraig Patterson, Kathy Westwater, Philippa Kaye, Anneke Hansen and Sara Rudner. She received her BA from Columbia University in American Studies and has the pleasure of currently dancing for Risa Jaroslow, Sara and Philippa. She looks forward to teaching and taking part in more dance. She begins a MA in transmedia at The New School fall 2010. As well as her work in “Miraculous Arms an A.R.T. by the Spinnerets,” Rachel danced in “BigMonst3r,” 2004, and was original in the creation and performance of “Constant Hum of the Chambered Nautilus,” 2006.
Maggie Thom
grew up in New York City and received her B.A. from Wesleyan University. She is very happy to be involved in her first project with Philippa Kaye Company, “Miraculous Arms, An A.R.T. by the Spinnerets.” She also currently dances with Sara Rudner and Juliana F. May. She teaches yoga to students of all ages.

Langdon C. Crawford
created the music for “Ritual for a non-repeating Universe” and “Constant Hum of the Chambered Nautilus.” He has been improvising with electronics since 1999. Starting with guitars and effects, he moved into computer music, eventually incorporating graphics and live interaction. In 2001, he began designing, composing, and performing works and systems for laptop performance and real-time interaction. Crawford has designed and performed/presented with N.B. Aldrich, John Blum, Joel Chadabe, Joan LaBarbara, Alvin Lucier, Chris Mann, and Joe Reinsel, in Bennington, VT; Montreal, Quebec; and New York City. He teaches music technology at New York University.

Susie Ibarra
created the music for “Beyond a Shadow.” A composer/percussionist, she has performed as a soloist and collaborator in various configurations. Known for her innovative style Ibarra creates cultural dialogue through her music. She is a Yamaha, Vic Firth and Paiste Artist and has recorded over 40 records as a leader and co-leader. Recent work include : Drum Sketches, solo percussion composed and performed by Ibarra commissioned by Innova Records and The Brecht Forum, Dialects for Electric Kulintang on Plastic Records, Summer Fantasy and Folklore for Susie Ibarra Quartet commissioned by MoMa Summergarden and Jazz at Lincoln Center, A Translation of Silk with Yusef Komunyakaa for poetry, soprano and violin premiered at the Harlem Stage, Canciones de Cuna / Lullabies by Mundo Niños ,Madre Selva a soundtrack video installation by Juan Sanchez in tribute to Ana Mendieta, Kit: Music for Four Pianists commissioned by Ars Nova Workshop, War Horses music by Electric Kulintang and poetry by Yusef Komunyakaa commissioned by Isamu Noguchi Museum, These Trees That Speak commissioned by Ethos Percussion Quartet, Pintados Dream/ The Painteds Dream a concerto for drums, visual art by Makoto Fujimura and chamber orchestra commissioned by American Composers Orchestra and premiered at Zankel Carnegie Hall. Julien Gardair, a versatile French artist, moved to Brooklyn in 2007, where he currently resides. He works in a variety of media from painting to consuming site-specific installations. Daniel Vatsky
created the video for “Surface.” He is an intermedia artist, filmmaker, and film archivist. His projects range from transcontinental multi-user installations to entirely analog performances using slide projectors and found objects. Daniel is a founding member of the performance groups Screen Memory, V4, and Kijk & Luister, and is the resident video artist for The Psychasthenia Society, an ongoing monthly event for laptop stories and music. His visuals have accompanied such artists as N.E.R.D, Ken Lishi, Miss Kitten, and David Lee Myers at such places as PS122, the Apple store, The Kitchen, the new MOMA, and in many film festivals. He is also a core member of SHARE, a weekly electronic jam session for audio and video performers.

Renée Kurz
created costumes for “Constant Hum of the Chambered Nautilus.” Originally from Northwest Arkansas, studied dance and fashion at Missouri State University. Renée has designed costumes for Cornfield Dance, VIA Dance Collaborative, Jessica Gaynor Dance, and Philippa Kaye Company. As a dancer she has currently performed with Saint Michael’s Warriors Dance Company, Jessica Gaynor Dance, and VIA Dance Collaborative. She has also worked with choreographers Daniel Charon, Gudbjorg Arnalds, Jessica Kondrath, and Noémie Lafrance. Renée is currently in India teaching dance to children.

Kryssy Wright
designs lights for dance and theater. Her work as a designer has been seen in Indiana, Vermont, Massachusetts, Maine, and New York. Since relocating to New York City, Kryssy has been active with MAP Intermedia, Sens Production, Yoshiko Chuma, LSInstillations, PS122, and others. Kryssy holds a BA from Bennington College where she also studied visual art.
Carolyn Wong
is a freelance lighting designer based in NYC. She has created designs for Roxane Butterfly, MayDance, Holly Handman, Philippa Kaye, Nai-Ni Chen, and TU Dance. Ms. Wong has toured with Susan Marshall & Company, Forces of Nature Dance Theater, Shen Wei Dance Arts, the Parsons Dance Company, and the Rockettes Christmas Spectacular. She also assisted on the Broadway productions of Little Shop of Horrors, The Times They Are A-Changin’, and The Little Mermaid. She is a native of San Francisco and a graduate of Oberlin College.
